Welcome to Oldmeldrum!


This year marks the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Barra fought near Oldmeldrum (probably close to Barra Hill shown above) between John Comyn's forces and those of Robert Bruce. Jim Benvie, formerly of Oldmeldrum and lately from Texas has constructed an interesting Blog on the subject (click here). Meldrum & Bourtie Heritage Society are erecting an information board and memorial to the battle of the north side of the Barra Roundabout which will be unveiled by pupils from Meldrum Primary School at 11.00am on May 23rd - the date of the battle in 1308.
