Meldrum Community Cafe

Isobel & staff welcome you all to the Meldrum Community Cafe - the town's recently opened coffee shop & sandwich bar.

On the menu is a wide range of coffee and tea, soft drinks, sandwiches, toasted sandwiches,
salads, paninis, buns & cakes all at very reasonable prices.

Opening Hours:

Wednesday: 10am - 2pm
Thursday: 10am - 4pm
Friday: 10am - 4pm
Saturday: 10am - 4pm

These opening hours could be extended with the addition of more volunteers to help run the Cafe and also for tasks such as cooking, baking or shopping. Potential volunteers would be very welcome - please drop into the Cafe for a chat.

Please support the Cafe and our community.

The idea for the Cafe came from the "Making Meldrum Better" initiative. Members of this group formed a new type of formal organisation called a Community Interest Company - a sort of "half way house" between a charity and a trading business. The Cafe is non profit-making but has to generate enough money to cover their costs. Annual statements are produced and anyone can inspect these on request. Should an operating profit be made, then this money will be passed back into the community, perhaps through a bidding process involving interested groups, organisations or individuals.

The officers of the Community Interest Company are:

Ron Wallace: Chairperson
Isobel Page: Secretary
Pam Baird: Treasurer
Aird Buist: Managing Director

The Cafe premises in the Town Hall are provided rent free by Aberdeenshire Council and the CIC also got grants from the National Lottery (£10,000) and Aberdeenshire Council (£10,000) to set up with renovation of the room and equipment.
