Local Development Plan (see also www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/ldp)
Press Release dated 10th May 2009:
Meldrum Bourtie and Daviot Community Council -Local Development Plan
Aberdeenshire Council are about to launch the key consultation exercise that will determine the future development of land around Oldmeldrum for the next 20 years. This consultation process will run from 18th May 2009 to 6th July 2009. In the area covered by Meldrum Bourtie and Daviot Community Council developers have made bids for land allocations that would provide approximately 300 houses in Daviot and 1500 houses in Oldmeldrum. Planners have now completed their initial assessments and concluded that all of these bids are 'technically possible' for development approval. Planners have highlighted one housing bid area that is 'preferred for development'. Scotia Homes and Aberdeenshire Council have submitted bids for a total of 1100 houses to the south of Oldmeldrum and planners envisage this combined land area as a mixed development for 540 houses and other community facilities with a link road to the A947. The only other preferred sites are also in Oldmeldrum and provide land for retail development and an extension of the industrial area.
Meldrum Bourtie and Daviot Community Council have arranged to provide information about these bids and the planners assessments as follows:
Oldmeldrum Town Hall (rear hall downstairs) 13th May to 6th July Wednesday to Saturday 2pm - 4pm And also Thursday and Saturday 10am-12.0pm
Developers have been asked to come along to answer questions in Oldmeldrum on Thursday 21st May from 6-8pm and Saturday 23rd from 10am-4pm.
Daviot Hall (Initial dates) Friday 15th May 10am-4pm Saturday 16th May 10am -4pm Sunday 17th May 1pm-4pm
Developers have been asked to attend Daviot Town Hall on Saturday 16th May from 10am -4pm.
Meldrum Academy Aberdeenshire Council Planners propose to hold a public meeting at Meldrum Academy on 2nd June from 7pm-9pm.

The community council is an essential link between the people of Oldmeldrum, Bourtie & Daviot with Aberdeenshire council. It is a statutory body recognised in law with it's own Constitution and Code of Conduct for councillors.
Meldrum, Bourtie & Daviot Community Council (MB&DCC) is one of the more active and contributory Community Councils (CC) in the area.
The council currently comprises a minimum of fifteen members who are taken from three areas. The town of Oldmeldrum a minimum of six, the old parish of Meldrum
("Lanward" as it is known) a minimum of three, the parish of Bourtie a minimum of
three and three from Daviot.
At their monthly meetings they look at any problems in the area and discuss what there contributions to solving the problems could be. It may be to report the problem brought up by a council member or a member of the public. After deliberation the matter may be reported to Aberdeenshire Council for action. It may be responding to a document issued by Aberdeenshire Council for comment. Consultation by many relevant bodies including the Council are becoming a more and more important
role of the CC and take up a fair bit of their time. The CC is now a statutory consultee for all Planning Applications and
this can be a hot spot at any meeting. After looking at the applications, they can submit letters of support or objection to planning applications. Such letters will be considered by the Area Committee when the applications come up before them at
their monthly meeting.
Why not go along to see what goes on? They are always looking for more members. The community council meets every month,
usually in the lower room in the town hall and is open to all to attend. Watch
the local press for details.
